At Buffalo Wild Wings in Olathe, Kansas, the racing was as hot as the wings! We went there for Pam Hardeman's birthday (I won't say how old) hoping to catch the Saturday night race at Richmond in the spring. They had lots of TVs, a big screen, and not many people when we arrived there early. The waiter (who was awful cute) said we could watch the race until the Royals game came on, because their policy was to show local games when they were available. Even though the Royals were mired in last place, and experiencing the worst season of their franchise (104 losses in 2005) the management insisted on showing the game that Saturday night. "But hey, Carl Edwards is local, he's from Columbia, Missouri, doesn't that count?" Apparently it did (or maybe it was the 20 bucks Thad slipped the waiter) because they left the race on all night! Just a tip for all you hot sauce fans, their Blazin' hot sauce (the hottest) tastes real good in a tall, frosty beer. We had a great time, great friends, great service, it's hard to beat Buffalo Wild Wings. - reported by Judy Kay

Finally - a sports bar that let us have our own room, and control of the remote! The Fieldhouse Cafe in Overland Park, Kansas is where we gathered to watch the last Cup race of 2005. Our waitress Dorothy (no Wizard of Oz jokes, please...) was incredibly gracious to our rather rowdy group. Kathy Beth came prepared with Trivia and Fantasy games - it was eat, drink and be merry all afternoon. The first sports bar we've been to where we weren't threatened with channel switching, or a time limit, or no sound - so we give this bar the Green Flag! Biffle won the race; Tony won the Championship; everybody won something in the Trivia Questions; Sharon Altweis won our Night-Shift NASCAR Fantasy League (at work); Judy Kay won the Driver Pot draw, and I won the race Fantasy Team pick! See, it's all good when we get together to watch our favorite sport - everybody wins! - by NASCarla

Robby and Amy tried their best to get son Zach to pose for a picture, he's ducked down in the corner...

Brian isn't bored and rolling his eyes, he's watching the race on the other TV, way up in the corner...

Mike
Ballinger,
Party King!

Can't believe I'm 40-something and have never been to a Hooters! That's where Mike Ballinger gathered us all for the Brickyard Watch Party on August 6. This one is located right by Kansas Speedway: big plus. And they had the sound on throughout the race, throughout the restaurant: bigger plus. Our waitress was Amanda, she was "delightfully tacky", had a great sense of humor, fit right in with the 3sisters! Wings were everywhere, I mean of the Buffalo /Chicken Variety, and they have a great menu, just right for a Sunday afternoon watching racing with all the fanaddicts. Lots of prizes were given away, Ryck Sanders' family won a alot of them, of course there's a lot of them. Greg Roller's son Matt won the Trivia Contest, although Brian Schendt is still the "Czar of Nascar" with his winning performance at the Daytona Watch Party. Greg Roller won the fantasy Nascar contest, his driver Matt Kenseth finished a close second behind Allstate Brickyard 400 winner "Jimmie Jimmie Jimmie". Hooters said we're invited back anytime, and it would be a pleasure! - Judy Kay -
