What perfect weather we had for Racefest this year - Kansas never (almost never!) lets us down! We have a new addition to our group this year: Judy Kay's Brand-New-Boyfriend (fiance!) Dane Cross - Welcome Kid! We met early to set-up, hoping we'd have time to sight-see this year, get's pretty busy in our area, 'cause we always have the best drivers sitting with us! Kathy Beth puts together an awesome Tailgating package for some lucky Above Average Race Fan to win, and we get to see sights that we don't normally see at the track... like, dig these chicks!
Gunnar Kyle has the honors: and the winner is... Sonja Hart from Lawrence, Kansas. Sonja had already left for the evening, but the racing world is a small one - a friend of a friend of a 4th cousin twice removed was called on to deliver the package - very cool deal!
Time to pack it all in, quite the busy, productive day - but the Weekend has just begun... Best weekend of the year, with big, big races out at Lakeside Speedway, the Nationwide Race and best of all, The Sprint Cup out at Kansas Speedway. Let's go Racin', boys!!
Toyota had a great educational area, with Kyle Busch's car skewered and spinning around like a bar-b-que.
Claudia Bivins chats with future B Mod surperstar A.J. Tice, look for her out at Heartland Park in '09, after that, who knows, maybe on the NASCAR tracks? You never know - Terry Bivins has been round and round Lakeside & NASCAR - #53!
In spite of the expressions on our faces - we really do get along! We're just trying to figure out what and who goes where... Race fans and regular shoppers converged early, lots of people interested in racing in the Kansas City area. Pictured to the left is the legendary Terry Bivins, and to the left are our Official friends, Rick Miller is the man on crutches - he gets our girl Shannon into the pits!

Thanks so much for the wonderful tailgating package that we won at The Legends. My husband and 7 year old son are huge race fans. They even tailgated at Lakeside the last Saturday in September and first Saturday in October. They are bummed that Lakeside decided to cancel the rest of the October schedule but understand that it’s all about the money; you have to bring in the fans to finance the track. I always get them Lakeside gift certificates for Christmas. I really appreciate you delivering the package to Ken and Sue. I don’t know why I didn’t just come get it from you. I think I must have been in shock that we actually won. Thanks again. Mike, Sonja & Garrett Hart
We were able to do a little sight-seeing of our own this year, collected a few collectibles, and made some new friends. Oh, and look what Pam Walker found, more t-shirts, just what she needs! (picture, look left, and up a little...)
Can't even begin to describe how incredibly awesome it was to have Grand National driver Ben Kyle sit with us - so fun!
Wow - cute out-of-towner! Just so happens that he is on Tony Stewart's team, can't get much closer to NASCAR than this! Wait a minute - yes we can, because Shannon got Mama (NASCarla) into the pits the next day!!
Gunnar Kyle drew his own crowd with his energetic antics, he was all over the place! Lots of happy fans this day!
