Uhhh.... what you lookin' at Judy Kay???

Every Race Weekend is special, but this one was Twice-As-Nice - James and I (NASCarla) tied the knot! The minute the "I Sure Do's" were done, the 3 Sisters were off to the Kansas Speedway to watch the ARCA race and James headed out to pick up his boys so they could join us for the Race and Wedding Weekend Festivities.
BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY!!

FIRST COMES LOVE...THEN COMES MARRIAGE... THEN COMES RACING!

Randy's teeth aren't normally this green - he's been dipping into the frosting - again!

Zach Cansler signs the Guestbook, he thinks that we're cool, even for old people! Hmmm, is that good or bad?

Randy sure knows how to schmooze the Supervisors... Oh wait - sorry Randy, what goes on at the track, stays at the track. Robbie isn't even your supervisor anyway!

Always some kind of entertainment at our gatherings - the boys play with the nitro car, the men grill, and the ladies do a little bit of everything! We all eat well, and the storytelling goes on until it's time to head up to the stands. Which gives us even more fodder for tales!

Ruts are steep obstacles when you're 5" tall

This is what we do best, shop till we almost drop, and learn stuff along the way! Stuff like - we're glad we've never seen one of these tanks bearing down on us in action, and that the guys in camo are on our side! Nobody came out of the radio van while we were hanging around - if you're skeered, say you're skeered! We all signed up for free stuff too, played a few games, did a few poses - race day is sure worth the long winter wait!

Well now, aren't we a good-looking bunch of Race Fans? I know, I know, we are all celebrities, but see if you can spot the one who makes the most money because of his fame... (Clue in the video to the right!) Missing from this group photo are James and Taylor Bivins, seems like they had other business that needed taken care of. Enough said - Let's go racing boys!!!

See, we even had a garter! Thank goodness the ground was dry, nothing worse than wet knees during a race!

We met Rusty and Tina on our Track Trek to Texas - and they've been hangin' with us at the races ever since. Well, we hang with them - so we never have to pay for entertainment!

3 Rows of people, 20 or more deep, lined up in front of Danica's trailer, most of the weekend. You could even get your picture taken with a cardboard cut-out of Danica in a slinky dress - holding a helmet - nice! Or, for $29 you could buy the cutout - and put it wherever your fantasy's suggest...

'Stang Gang

Local Girl Jennifer Cobb qualified for the race - in Derrick Cope's #74 truck. The whole team was seriously under-powered, but she sure looks good!

We do all kinds of things to entertain ourselves at the races, the driver pot piques our competitive nature, also helps us to watch different drivers. We gossip too, and exchange trivia. For example, ever noticed how almost everything at the track has a sponsor's name on it? Even the napkins in the car owners tents. What's next, underwear?

The Truck races at Kansas Speeway are always exciting, the drivers act like every lap is the last one...
Ron Hornaday Jr. captured the checkered flag, his first win at Kansas Speedway, coming in .149 seconds faster than Jack Sprague.

Since we can now take tiny (compared to Talladega!) coolers into the stands, the munchies are held at bay. We've got licorice twizzlers, jolly ranchers, chips, jerky, gum, beer, diet coke - yeah, we eat healthy!

With beauties Milka and Danika running the Indy cars, men have drivers to oooh and aaah over - they don't have to hear "He's HOT!" all afternoon. Just desserts, you might say! Only a week after her IndyCar victory in Japan, the crowd anticipated a repeat here from Danica on American asphalt. That wasn't to be, Danica's day ended with 44 laps to go - bad wheel - leaving her with a 19th place finish. Milka fared a little better - 16th place, 5 laps down.

While the driver introductions were going on, some of us Race Fans were sitting there thinking... Wonder what's going on in Talladega... Sure hate missing that race - Oh Well!

We have the best Flyovers - every year - every race!

T-38's

"Rocketman" Dan Schlund flew through the air during the flag raising ceremony, taking off from pit road to deliver the green flag for the race to the start/finish line. Yeah - that was AWESOME! 30 seconds worth of hydrogen peoxide propellant took him that far, looked like something off of Star Trek! I've said before and I'll say it again - we have the BEST pre-race ceremonies!

All the usual suspects met at the bank formerly known as "Gold", then followed the pace car out to the track for our Tailgating/Reception!

The ARCA race was exciting, especially since everybody got in FREE! The race was won by Rookie Scott Speed - but we were cold in the stands, and more than a little disappointed by the finish, once again, at Kansas: we had no burnout, victory lap - not even a drive-by wave - damn it! Couldn't even see Victory Circle.

We are blessed with friends and family who provided all the traditional fixins' for the perfect personalized wedding celebration. Add a tailgate party and a race weekend - it really doesn't get any better than that! Thad Fletchall impressed us all with his artistic lettering on the cake-top bride and groom. The Bride and Groom wore matching "Backstretch Boys" tanks, white hats, jeans - and of course, a veil and garter. The Bridal Bouquet was a beautiful combination of black and white roses tied with checkered ribbons. And man - what a menu! All the happily married couple's favorites: big green leafy salad, rib-eye steaks, baked potatos with all the trimmings, peach brandy punch - great sustinance for the race weekend ahead!

AND NOW - IT"S OFF TO THE TRUCK RACES!!

And Sunday - we do it all again!! Indy races this time, bigger crowd so there's more traffic, we meet a little earlier at the bank. Different crowd, Rusty, Tina and Deb had to hit the road, but Amy Young could make it this day (it was Prom Night the day before - can't miss that!).

MASS EXODUS!

Race Recap: The start of the race was delayed 3 minutes (seemed like forever!) while ESPN2 waited for women's golf to finish. A lot of the race was boring, for both drivers and fans - and to add insult to injury for die-hard NASCAR fans - we were missing Talladega... Anyway - Dan Weldon made it 2 in a row in the Road Runner Turbo 300, beating Tony Kanaan by 2.1778 seconds. Most of the race it looked as though the win would go to Scott Dixon, he had been leading the most laps, until a caution came out when Buddy Rice slammed the barrier in turn two, and the pits closed. When racing resumed, Weldon took the lead, becoming the first two-time winner of an IndyCar race at Kansas Speedway.
We usually hang out in the stands for awhile, don't want to be trampled by the herd. Also because, well, makes the time between races a little bit shorter!

The Zach's cleaned up in the Driver Pot's! Didn't get a picture of Zach Cansler holding his wad of cash for the Truck win, but pictured here is Zach Young. It's funny Zach, you always shy away from the camera, but not now - are you gloating??? Congrats!!

Lucky Judy Kay caught this racy bouquet... Is that sheer delight, or terror? Only time will tell...

Side note:
Time told a happy tale - Judy Kay and Dane Cross will be married in Las Vegas 2009! Cool!

"That's my Baby - she can sure slam 'em down! Makes a man real proud!"

For some reason the men and boys high-tailed it out of garter range ...

This is the 3rd day of a looooong race weekend, so the tailgating is a bit more subdued - we forage out of the the trunks of cars rather than pick-up trucks - still just as well, fed, although not as much variety. Plenty of Tall Tales though!

We're doing our part - going green - salad, that is!

We didn't have to wait too long for the first caution - the yellow flag waved on the first lap!

Even cool (57 degrees), cloudy days don't dampen our enthusiasm for a race! The dates they've given us for Kansas races hasn't given us much of a chance to show any skin, late Aprils in Kansas can be rather cool, so can late September races... Oh well, in some cases - that's a good thing!

Robbie lookin' good in a haze of hamburger heaven!

Randy Wayman helps clean Kathy Beth's fingers after she ran into the cake wall, see the hole - pic on the left... To the right is the cake in all it's decorated glory! Do we have the best Friends and Family or what??? Brings a big old tear to this new bride's eye...
No Tailgate Reception would be complete without a 6-pack of Honeymoon Beer (made by Blue Moon Brewing Co.), a special gift from Pam & Sheryl - thanks Girls!
Here's a picture of our Peach Brandy Fruit Punch - mmmm, sunshine in a bucket!
It's amazing to look at all the old tailgate and race pictures - my, how the kids have grown! And none of the ladies have aged!
