Feb.
9, 2008 Bud Shootout Fantasy Draft Party
Change is good! Had to shake things up a little bit for our Fantasy Draft
this year - our Race Fan Fan Club is full of Fanatics - lots of people want
in on the fun! Judy Kay drew up a new list of rules - allowing us to involve
more people in our Draft, without using up all the drivers... We met at one
of our favorite Watering Holes, Freddy T's in Overland Park - it was an Afternoon
Brunch Social Hour, we didn't do our "traditional" Race-Watch Draft,
as there would be a KU basketball game showing at the same time as the Bud
Shootout later in the evening. It's been our experience that the game would
drown out the race - so we all went our separate ways after the draft. Which
worked out rather well, still got in some visiting, reconnecting after the
looooong (seems long!) race break! There are now 21 Race Fans in our All
Night Long Fantasy League - ranging in age from 17 (Zach Cansler)
to 80 (Pauline Walker). How cool is that?
Trying something a little different again this year, going to put all our pictures of our Race-Watch get-togethers on this one page, not so much surfing involved, it's like a little diary of our 2008 racing season, except for the races we get to watch at the track!

Cheryl Coons - first winner for our Daytona Race Watch - even when the party's small, a fan can win big!

Yo
- Bentley!!
Cool Hot Dog!

Curt Coons - #3 Fan waits to see what Jr. can do in his new ride...

For the Spring Texas race, James and I came home from our weekly shopping trip at Wal-Mart to find Shannon and Bentley sitting on our porch step, impatiently waiting for the start of the Texas race... or perhaps it was Chef/Bodyguard James' famous Shrimp Scampi? Looks like both Shannon and Carl Edwards won that day!
The 3 Sisters and Bodyguard James headed south when the Drafting was finished, to Dad and Nola Mae's farm - where the action continued well into the wee hours of the evening. Always great food - James always looks forward to Nola Mae's tasty pies - and Dad made biscuits, while we all wait impatiently!
