Weather reeked havoc on
our setup efforts once again this year. Early Friday morning the windy conditions
virtually destroyed our food tents - blowing them over the RV's like toy umbrellas.
Saturday night hurricane Paula trashed our Above Average Race Fan hospitality
- she won't be joining us next year... Our group is like family, nobody stays
between us for long! We take care of US!
This year Pam's nephew Sean Belt joined us - he drives the Nitro Madness Dragster,
and his own Metal Mafia fuel altered, we are very happy to have him join our
roundy-round group! Check out his "Spanky's" truck picture! Sean
also provided the big screen (bedsheet) TV, we were treated to the movie Ricky
Bobby - it's way too funny! We even had a few non-race fan friends stop by,
and they were impressed enough to stay and party.
This is the weekend when Lakeside Speedway, the 1/2 mile dirt track
a few miles north of Kansas Speedway hosts the Late Model Showdown and Modified
Shoot-out - a group of us make all 4 races that weekend, so it's a loooong
one! Tiring, but exhilarating... Can't get any rest at the campsite either,
but hey - we can sleep when we're dead - where's the coffee?
